It seems that Marina Granovskaia’s departure has blown up all the hard work done on the Jules Kounde deal, as the new owners prefer Matthijs de Ligt, and Petr Cech’s ousting has seemingly done in another deal that looked to be done.
Cech did great work spotting Edouard Mendy, and his next contribution to the goalkeeping department was likely to be Gabriel Slonina of Chicago Fire.
Gabriel Slonina, always performing at top level in MLS. There was a verbal agreement in place with Chelsea for €10m – Chicago Fire waiting to see if after departure of Petr Cech the deal will collapse again.

Slonina was already really close to Chelsea in January.

A deal looked to be in place, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the American club fear that the deal will “collapse again” without Cech in place.
Slonina, who is in the middle of his season with the Fire, will have to hope the American ownership at Chelsea are keen to get another stars and stripes waver in to the club to join them.
