Chelsea “unlikely” to sign attacking players”

Chelsea are not looking to sign another striker this summer, according to Ed Aarons of the Guardian.

In his piece about Cristiano Ronaldo not being a target for the club, he writes that Chelsea “are unlikely to add any more attacking reinforcements” now that Raheem Sterling has signed.

That mirrors the impression we got from Thomas Tuchel’s interview today where he mentions the departure of Romelu Lukaku. His response was immediately to mention the signing of Sterling, hinting that he is moving away from a fixed number 9 entirely.

It also probably indicates that Armando Broja has a good chance of staying put this summer.

One interesting note from the piece is that the club are still interested in a player who can cover for Reece James at right wing back. That is certainly a glaring hole in the squad now, and we can’t imagine Cesar Azpilicueta would be allowed to left until it’s filled.
