Conor Gallagher he will be part of Chelsea’s squad

Conor Gallagher’s interview with BBC Sport was pretty positive fluff, but it did have one really in depth line about his season to come.

He said that his manager Thomas Tuchel “said he wants me to be part of the squad and to prove myself in pre-season, so that’s the plan.”

The midfielder added: “I’m happy with that and just willing to work as hard as I can to prove to him that I can play for Chelsea.”

It doesn’t sound like he’s saying that his status this season is dependent on how he does in preseason, just that he can move himself even further  forward in the pecking order. Given how he played last season, there’s a good chance he forces his way into the starting team.

That should kill off all the rumours about him leaving on loan or permanently this summer – but it won’t of course. There will still be plenty of interested clubs, and plenty of online chatter regardless.

At least this is one academy product we will be seeing in Blue this season. He could make an impact like Mason Mount and Reece James did a couple of seasons ago.
