Kai Havertz’ incredible pressing stats show why Tuchel loves him

Kai Havertz didn’t have his best game against West Ham at the weekend.

His hot streak was never going to last forever, but after some really good games recently he struggled against the Hammers’ deep block and was taken off after 75 minutes, having only had one shot.

But Havertz offers so much beyond his attacking threat, and that was evident in the stats from the game.

According to FBRef, He had 26 pressures in those 75 minutes. That’s 4 more than midfield monster N’Golo Kante managed in the whole 90.

It just goes to show why manager Thomas Tuchel is such a fan of having Havertz up top compared to Romelu Lukaku. Even when he’s not at his best in attack, he’s working hard to force mistakes from the opposition.

Hopefully the rest against Arsenal last week has helped, and he will be fresh and pressing hard tomorrow night against Man U – there are certainly plenty of mistakes to be forced there.
