Local sources say defender is back on top of Chelsea’s list

Chelsea’s move for Jules Kounde was a whole year in the making, although it seemed to finally crumble at the last as the new ownership took over and tore down the structures put in place by Roman Abramovich and his minions.

That relegated Kounde to the back of a queue which had names like Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly ahead of them.

But now de Ligt has chosen Bayern, and Koulibaly has come to Chelsea, Kounde’s time seems to have come round again.

The Blues still need at least one more central defender, and the France international is a top option – and up for sale.

ABC in Seville report that the Blues are back “to bid strongly” for the former Bordeaux man. The Spanish side start their training camp next week, and it feels like that could be the moment that Kounde starts up his campaign to get a move away once again.
