A suspected bomb producer and a Boko Haram member, Bala Usman has been apprehended by operatives of the Taraba State Police Command.

Parading the suspect on the Police Headquarters in Jalingo on Thursday, June 16, the State Police Commissioner, CP Abimbola Sokoya advised journalists that Usman, 37, from Kebbi State, was arrested when he tried to kill one Usman Yaki of Gunduma village in Gassol native authorities space of Taraba State.

The CP stated the suspect had confessed to being a member of the Boko Haram terrorist group and a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing Niger, Kogi and Taraba states.

According to the police boss, the suspect had additionally confessed to  being behind the 2 bomb assaults on Jalingo not too long ago.

“A search was conducted in the house/premise of the suspect at Tella town, and following exhibits buried in the ground within the house were recovered: 198 Pieces of 7.6MM live ammunition, 558 assault live ammunition, One PISTOL BREECH NO.CZ 999 SCORPION with (6) rounds of live ammunition.

“Other items recovered include 20 plastic bottles of SODIUM AZIDE ACID, Eight plastic bottles of KERMI ACID, 27 plastic bottles of locally made Bombs, Three Face Masks, Three pullover Jackets, a bunch of highly volatile cable wires 36 lighters, and Two empty magazines of AK 47 Rifles and assault riffle.

“Concerted efforts are ongoing to arrest, Abubakar Lawal and ABDULLAHI GARBA and others now at large, who are members of the syndicate. Investigation into the case in progress.” he added.
