Timo Werner impresses for Germany ahead of decisive summer

Today saw the last global fixtures of the 2021/2022 FIFA Men’s game – Nations League games with European teams. The best performer was Timo Werner, who scored twice for Germany as they roared to a 5-1 win over Italy

It’s a positive end to a season which saw Werner struggle once again with Chelsea – but continue to impress in his international appearances.

After two full seasons of playing regularly, his club seem ready to give up on him if a good bid comes in.

Perhaps good showings like this will increase interest. Perhaps it shows teams that he’s being misused or underappreciated at Chelsea, and can be a success for them.

The Blues have given up on plenty of players before who have gone on to be successes, but despite that there’s an overwhelming feeling in most of the fanbase that Werner has had enough chances now.

But for as long as he keeps doing his thing for his country, there will be plenty of interest.
